Skilled independent residence visa (subclass 885) is one of the most common pathways to Permanent Residency (PR) for International students who have obtained an Australian qualification as a result of at least two years study in Australia. Applicants do not need sponsorship to apply for this visa, but you must pass a point test and meet the following primary criteria:
- Score 120 points for the point test.
- Must be an overseas student or former overseas student.
- Be in Australia at the time of application.
- Apply within six months of completion of two years study.
- Be under 45 years of age at the time of lodging the application.
- Have the qualification that is listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) for the immigration purpose.
- Obtain successful skills assessment for your qualification and work experience.
- Have good English language skills.
- Be of good character.
- Have good health.
